CIFT Empanels Four Firms for Manufacturing Turtle Excluder Devices

Cochin : In a significant development for marine conservation and fisheries sustainability, the ICAR-Central Institute of Fisheries Technology (ICAR-CIFT), Cochin, has released a revised office order enlisting four firms for the fabrication of Turtle Excluder Devices (TEDs). These firms have been empaneled based on the chronological order of signing their Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with ICAR-CIFT.

The following firms have been selected:

  1. M/s Fish Eye, Kochi – MoU signed on 04.02.2025
  2. M/s G Nets, Kanyakumari – MoU signed on 07.02.2025
  3. M/s Leela Enterprises, Kochi – MoU signed on 07.02.2025
  4. The Matsyafed Net Factory, Ernakulam – MoU signed on 24.02.2025

All firms have agreed to fabricate the devices at a uniform rate of ₹23,485 (inclusive of GST).

The empanelment is valid for two years from the date of execution of the MoU. Departments and organizations intending to procure TEDs can select from any of the empaneled firms as per their operational guidelines. Orders can be placed directly with the firms, with a copy of the order required to be submitted to ICAR-CIFT via email at ciftmou@gmail.com.

This initiative aligns with directives from the Ministry of Fisheries, Government of India, aimed at enhancing sustainable fishing practices and protecting marine biodiversity, especially sea turtles.
