Odisha exempts fisheries activities during the lockdown period

New Delhi: The State Government has excluded all fisheries related activities from the restrictions during the lockdown and weekend shutdown in order to provide uninterrupted services to farmers and support livelihood activities.

The State Fisheries Commissioner-cum-Secretary Shri R Raghu Prasad has issued an order in this regard.

An indicative list of activities which are allowed in both government and private sector are as follows:

Operations of the fishing (marine, brackish and inland)/ aquaculture industry, including feeding(sea food quality testing laboratories) & maintenance, harvesting, processing including aqua laboratories, clinics, packaging, cold chain including ice factories, sale and marketing. Functioning of fishing harbors, fish landing centers, fish auction halls, fish net manufacturing factories, fish net mending sheds and fish drying yards

  1. Hatcheries, feed plants, commercial aquaria.
    1. Movement of fish/ shrimp and fish products, fish seed/ feed and workers for all these activities.

The state government has imposed complete lockdown in the entire State with effect from today (05th  May 2021)  till 19th May 2021. The State Fisheries Department has asked the district administration and other related line departments to ensure that such activities are not hampered anywhere in the State.
