Online National Webinar organized in Fisheries College, Kawardha

Kawardha: – A National webinar was organized on the strategy to enhance Inland fish production in Chhattisgarh on 18 august at Kavardha, Chhattisgarh the only Fisheries College in the state operated under Chhattisgarh Kamdhenu University, Durg.  The program was organized under the Chairmanship of Dr. N. P. Dakshinakar Honorable Vice Chancellor, Chhattisgarh Kamdhenu University, Durg.  Dr.  Dakshinkar said in his address at the seminar that based on this seminar, a strategy must be prepared, which can be realized in doubling the income of fishermen of the state. Dr.  K.  K.  Choudhary, Dean, College of Fisheries, Kawardha welcomed everyone at the online webinar giving welcome addresses to all the key speakers guests.  Dr. K .K. Choudhary informed that 549 people registered in the seminar, in which research students, scientists of Central Research Institute, Professors of Universities, and progressive farmers participated.  The seminar was attended by participants from 17 states of the country including Chhattisgarh, Jammu and Kashmir, Uttar Pradesh, Jharkhand, West Bengal, Orissa, Andhra Pradesh, Assam, Tamil Nadu, Kerala, Rajasthan, Gujarat, Maharashtra, and Tripura . It is a matter of great pride for the Fisheries Colleges, Kawardha and Chhattisgarh state.  V.  K Shukla, Director, Fisheries Department, Chhattisgarh, Govt., Raipur, spoke mainly on the species, rearing and breeding of fish in Chhattisgarh.  Prominent progress in fisheries will be made by making a strategy to improve the production of fisheries by the key speakers in this webinar. The keynote speaker in the seminar was Dr. B. P. Mohanty, Assistant Director General (Inland Fisheries), Indian Council of Agricultural Research, Pusa New Delhi, emphasized on the value addition of fish products raised in the state.  Dr.  Mohanty also highlighted the importance of protein found in fish in human diet.  The second keynote speaker in the webinar was Dr. B.  K.  Das, Director, Central Intrusive Fisheries Research Institute, Kolkata  emphasized on fisheries in cage culture in reservoirs of Chhattisgarh and management of fish in small and big reservoirs of the state by putting them in scientific method. 

In national webinar Dr. L.  L.  Sharma, Former Dean, Fisheries College, Udaipur Rajasthan, highlighted the role of Limnology in increasing the production of fisheries in Chhattisgarh region.  Dr.  Sharma said that the scientific management of small and large reservoirs in the time coming from limnology, from the quality of water of the small and large water resources and the study of the aquatic biodiversity of the reservoir is an important of Limnology. Dr.  N.  Sarang, Webinar organizer / Assistant professor, In-Charge, Fisheries Resource Management Department, Fisheries College, Kawardha, Chhattisgarh conducted the program. Dr. Honnananda B. R. Co- organizer / Assistant Professor, Dr.  J.  K.  Jakhar, Co-organizer / Assistant Professor, and Dr.  P.  Barik, Co-organizer / Assistant Professor, Dr.  K.  Panda Joint – organizer / Assistant Professor also played a key role in making the webinar a success.  and Dr.  B.  Nightingale Devi, Joint Organizer / Assistant Professor, thanked everyone at the end of the webinar.
